DLSS President's Message

March, 2008

Dear Members,

Our Summer Youth Sailing program on Delavan Lake is approaching fast. We hope you had the opportunity to visit the sailing school last season. We would like to thank you, the members of the Delavan Lake Yacht Club, for your past and continued support.

We continue to change our sailing school curriculum to meet the current needs of the Delavan Lake Yacht CLub members' families. The Opti enrollment continues to grow with the number of children reaching age five. We will have both beginning and advanced Opti classes this year.

Our instructors continue to develop a high interest in the sport of sailing in every one of their students. Teaching the proper sailing basics lays the foundations to a sport they can enjoy the rest of their lives. We are pleased to have an experienced coaching team return for the 2008 sailing season.

Renovating our building and classroom is scheduled for May 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th of 2008. We need help with the cleaning and painting of the interior, and in building a sail and equipment storage system. We are also in need of a computer, a PC or laptop, to monitor the weather conditions at all times. Donations are welcome toward the purchase of another soft-sided coaches boat, a bimini for the race committee boat, and a motor for the race committee lift.

We are asking for your support in our goal of raising $10,000 through donations to the Delavan Lake Sailing School, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. A donation card is available here on the website. Donating to the general fund allows the Board of Directors to determine the best use of your funds. Best of all, your donations are 100 percent tax deductible.

On behalf of the Delavan Lake Sailing School Board of Directors, we thank you for your past and continuing support of your sailing school.

Sincerely,

Joe Scheurell, DLSS President
