DLSS President's Message
April 2009
Dear Members,
With summer approaching fast, our board
members and volunteers are working very hard towards another
successful youth sailing program. The entire sailing school
would like to thank you, the members of the Delavan Lake Yacht Club,
for your generous donations. These donations have allowed us
to renovate our classroom, refurbish and increase our OPTI fleet and
purchase an additional safety boat.
Our enrollment continues to grow which
allows us to add learn to sail modules and a kinder pram program.
In addition, we are beginning advanced OPTI and X-boat classes.
The DLSS racing teams will be competing in eight to ten regattas
this season.
We would like to introduce our 2009 team
of instructors: Head Instructor – Katie Porter, Instructors -
Robert Mahoney, Zack Maher, Mack Scheurell, Mark Ehlers and Alyse

biographies. The teams mission is to:
Develop a high interest
in the sport of sailing by teaching proper sailing basics to create
the foundation to a sport they can enjoy the rest of their lives.
School begins on Monday June
15th, 2009. Tom Coelman will be doing
an OPTI clinic on June 22nd and 23rd
2009 for all of the students and instructors.
We are asking for your continued support
in our goal of raising $11,000.00 through donations to the Delavan
Lake Sailing School, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. A
donation card is available on our website. Donations are 100%
tax deductible and will allow us to increase and update or OPTI
fleet.
